Overview

The Robo-Kids program was a collaboration between businesses in the Marion, Ohio area, 4-H, and the National Robotics Challenge.  The program was designed for 3rd - 5th grade students who are interested in robotics and engineering.  Each student that participated in the Robo-Kids program had to be a 4-H member and had the opportunity to participate in the National Robotics Challenge, their county fair and the Ohio State Fair.

  Robots?

Why robotics?  While many students may not envision themselves designing and building robots in the future many will be effected by them.  Many people do not realize that robots in manufacturing are very common.  Robots are currently being developed for the military.  In the future, robots will also be serving us in our homes and businesses.  Each of these future assistants will need maintenance and repairs.  This new job market will be very important to our new economy and the operation of these robots.  As a matter of fact, Marion, Ohio is home to one of the largest industrial robotics retrofitting companies in the nation.
